envy.appspot.com makes it easy to analyze H1-B (visa) salary data available from the Data Disclosure Website. It was built by Siva Velusamy and Vasanth Asokan.
FAQ
-
Where do you get the salary information from?
- The salary information comes from salary values filed along with every H1-B application in 2007.
-
What can I use this data for?
- In most companies, H1-B's are paid the prevailing wage rate for the given position. So the salaries listed can be used to get a fairly accurate idea of the salary a given company offers for a position.
-
How accurate are the listed salaries?
- The salaries are only from the applications filed in 2007, so the data is a year+ old.
- In the course of developing this website, we noticed that many H1-B applications had invalid salaries. So rather than paying close attention to an individual salary, you should look at the general range.
-
Any other gotchas?
- Titles have not been normalized. So, if there are spelling mistakes in the H1-B data, they will show up.
- Some filings use "Sr" to indicate senior, and these have not been merged.
- Some job state values are obviously incorrect.
